Amazing Grace: A Witness to God's Love

J.M.J +
Dear Fellow Helpers,
I am posting in regards to our next peaceful prayer vigil which will take place on Saturday, the 21st of March, outside Planned Parenthood (345 Whitney Avenue New Haven) from 8am until 12 pm noon, the hours which the babies are scheduled to be killed by abortion. Please join us and take an hour of prayer. Abortions also take place on Wednesday afternoons and Friday mornings form 8-12 noon. If you feel compelled please bring a prayer partner and offer your prayers and fasting then.

Amazing Grace: A witness to God’s love
Last Saturday during the Helpers Vigil outside the Children’ Hospital at Yale, God chose to reveal his great love and mercy to all of us in a special way. While we were praying the Rosary we noticed a couple across the street from where we were praying. As we began to sing “Amazing Grace”, the couple walked toward us in great anticipation and the woman was visibly in tears. She began to say “I can’t believe it…You are here God…you are here!” When I greeted her I could not help but notice the woman’s face was greatly scarred and I was moved by the suffering I was sure she had already encountered in her life. She embraced me and began to tell me her story. “My daughter Trinity is only 17 months old” she said “and she is in the ICU here at Yale…she is very sick and having seizures and no one seems to be able to help her. I felt hopeless last night and I came out here to pray. I stood right here, in this very spot…where all of you are praying now and I asked… where are you now God? Where are you now? Help me God.” She continued by saying “When I looked out the window and saw all of you praying where I had been praying last night, I knew God had answered my prayer…I knew it was God…You are here God…thank you…you are here!"
There was not much I could say to this couple when I realized what had just happened on the cold sidewalk that morning as a small group of Helpers gathered to pray that God’s will would be done in all matters of life and death in the building dedicated to saving the lives of children. I became even more aware of how important it is that we come out to pray and make visible the “presence of God” for all those who need Him…for all of us. Words cannot do justice to convey amazing graces like we experienced on Saturday. God sends them to let us know He is always with us and answering our prayers. I assured Trinity’s mom that we would continue to pray for Trinity and that I would ask all of you to pray for her as well. Please consider joining us to pray in the defense of the tiny babies who want so much to know and feel the love every child deserves born and preborn. Won’t you come out to share God’s amazing grace with them?
In gratitude for His grace,
Mike and Kerry
